The problem that the project addresses is the challenge of introducing and using media in the life and ministry of all churches, regardless of the demographics of the congregation in relation to size, age or even financial status. The objective of the project is to show media as a means of grace to be used in the life of all churches, to give examples of its use, and to make the medium holy. When the technology of media is introduced (prevenience), explained and exemplified (justification), enabling all persons to find value in its use to proclaim the gospel, making it holy in the eyes of the local congregation (sanctification), another means of grace is recognized in the 21st century church's mission efforts. The project used a series of sessions in a workshop setting to introduce, instruct, and evaluate the use of media in the church life."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130250342563840,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:28:37.090Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:37:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:15:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b33cc01e-8226-4fef-95e5-b32fc8b67813","accessControl_ssim":["71aee66a-5b3c-47ac-9dd0-e51c3ae55288"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a process to introduce spiritual formation as a pathway for transformation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:37:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:18:46Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a3fb8440-1f84-4dc1-a83c-83bdf7592521"],"hasLease_ssim":["d222097b-1d00-4e6f-840b-21c3b1708580"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["R Robert Creech"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Constance L Wilson"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Spiritual formation","Christian education of adults","United Methodist Church of the Resurrection (Leawood, Kan)","Church group work","Methodist Church","Spiritual life--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project developed, implemented, and evaluated a small-group process to introduce spiritual formation and to increase knowledge and understanding among participants at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, a mega-church in Leawood, Kansas. The method of study was qualitative, using a small group structure of four pastors in the United Methodist tradition. It applied the use of interview, journal, and questionnaire. The results showed a marked improvement in the perceived awareness of one's felt presence with God. It resulted in stated improved spiritual renewal by the pastors and in improved proclamation of the Word."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130542061649920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:33:15.295Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:03:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:29:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"05e50476-f1de-4956-8e8c-bd52efcf2b66","accessControl_ssim":["d20aac36-2e41-4f3e-a292-9a2ba0259cac"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Not purely decorative: keeping the thread of the arts integral to the fabric of the private and professional life of the clergy-artist"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:03:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:17:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2ba82285-bbe6-43a0-9615-3bfb6a5ef851"],"hasLease_ssim":["1505bf2f-d782-44d4-9e56-343e4025a861"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Deborah Sokolove"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Wesley spread Methodist doctrines through sermons, and asked early Methodist preachers to preach according to Methodist doctrines. Doctrinal sermons have the advantage of reducing rejection on the part of church members toward doctrinal instruction and making it possible to teach doctrine to church members continually.
