In turn, her family led a movement that helped others live more virtuous lives. This project surveys the roles of women in early Methodist movement and examines the letters of Susanna Wesley for her interpretation and practices of virtue.  The research concludes that intentionality is a key component in virtue development in any time or place. The thesis employs a methodology of oral history using as informants indigenous Methodist women.  It contains stories of Meru women who have borne the gospel to homes, families, villages, schools, and helped found churches and Christian movements.
