Project"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kurt Andrew Jensen"],"subject_tesim":["Church and social problems","Mission of the church","Leadership--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores a process for cultivating a community’s missional imagination, using an adaptation of the Circle of Faith-in-Action by Jerry Windley-Daoust and Lorraine Kilmartin.1 God chooses to use us as part of the divine mission to restore the world to what it was created to be. Local community leaders who meet regularly to discern what God is already doing in their community and world can find creative and faithful ways of participating in God’s redemptive mission. Moving repeatedly through the Circle of Faith-in-Action can help leaders develop greater Awareness of the people and situations around them, do practical and theological Analysis of what is happening, and respond through Action that not only meets short-term needs but addresses long-term development of health and flourishing in their communities. By the work of the Holy Spirit, their actions result in a new situation that bears developing new awareness and analysis, leading to further action for the sake of God’s reign. The Circle of Faith-in-Action becomes an upward spiral. As people are seized by the power of the gospel, they discover imaginative ways to engage with the reign of God which is already renewing our broken world, through Jesus Christ. A qualitative research study was designed in which the areas of literature on a Christian theology of vocation and employee engagement were reviewed. The researcher discovered that congregants described their lives and their work as integral to God's mission in the world. The project uses semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and participatory group observation to collect data on change in clergy participants' leadership of missional growth before and after implementation of skills derived from the practice of midwifery.  The data collected measures change in discernment ability and effectiveness in advancing mission. This report contains biblical and theological references about young people and how God has woven their lives throughout our history. It also describes the current literature about Millennials from a sociological perspective. There is also a conversation about mission and missional church as it relates to the Millennials. The work shares stories of current mission and missional efforts of Highland Presbyterian Church and interviews with Millennials who are involved in the missional movement.
