They met for eleven sessions of four hours over twelve months. A pre and post 360 survey, correspondence, field notes and session transcripts provided data that indicated positive development of the participants' missional leadership capacities. Experimentation, cohort learning and both experienced and local coaching were among elements that contributed to this development. Three exercises were employed to (1) create an awareness of the need for change and to identify church leaders who are innovators and early adopters; (2) appraise the heritage, skills, and spiritual gifts of the congregation; and (3) take a fresh look at the community to discern its needs. The areas of leadership, worship, discipleship, social service and evangelistic engagement are examined. Spiritual integrity occurs when churches are truly present to God. This observation prompted this project on evangelism as an imperative redemptive mission of God for church growth. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with nine ministers from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The review of literature and analysis of the nine interviews identified three key areas which have a significant impact on a congregation's mission in their local community: the nature of the mission of the church, the leadership of the mission of the church and the practice of the mission of the church. This study concluded that these congregations should develop a fully orbed, biblical understanding of the nature of the mission of the church expressed in words and deeds. They should also develop the kind of visionary leadership which enables the congregation to face up to the reality of its changing context and make the necessary changes wh  ich will enable it to fulfill its God given mandate for mission.
