The project enlists 12 members, from varied backgrounds, of Faith United Methodist Church in Indian Trail, North Carolina, to participate in eight study sessions exploring the ecclesiological purposes for which the church exists, the culture and needs of the community, and the missionary and evangelistic action required from the church. The project produces a foundational document that may serve as a guide to new church development in western North Carolina. The author taught volunteers a theory of extraordinary caregiving to achieve these purposes and observed their interactions with households on welfare over a three-month period. Will a 3-month small group study using Malphurs's steps for building vision produce a clear and unified vision of ministry among the leadership of Warren Community Fellowship, as determined by using a pretest and posttest vehicle of measurement?  Warren Community Fellowhship is a 5-year old, suburban, non-denominational community church with an average attendance of 400. The third step of the methodology, which involved drafting a vision statement, was tested over a four-month period with the First Baptist Church of Media, PA.
