Research into how to lead short-term mission trips was used to develop teaching plans to equip the members of the group, who had the opportunity to commit to leading a short-term mission project within the next twelve to eighteen months from Stetson Baptist Church.  The project director used evaluation of the research from Philip Pinckard and Boyd Hatchel, training in writing teaching plans from Design for teaching and training by LeRoy Ford, evaluation of the teaching plans by Susie Lowry, evaluation of the training by Kevin Lowry, and evaluations by the selected group upon completion of the training. The research was qualitative research on the effectiveness of SEND International's recruitment, training and placement of second career missionaries on the field. The study took a curriculum design approach to develop an educational framework for life-based mentoring. Developing this model involved a four-step process. First, the author examined a few key biblical mentoring narratives to find patterns and principles related to life-based mentoring. Second, he explored how the study of literature could inform the development of this model. Third, he established a strategic framework and developed a curriculum for this model. The thesis of this paper is that this dormant potential may be fanned to life through contextualized missionary mediation, implementing a carefully conceited Experiential Missions Training (EMT) process, designed to integrate cross-cultural missions projects and inter-congregational teams with the benefits of Experiential Learning Theory (ELT).  The author draws out the principles of Experiential Missions Training through a case study of his own documented experiences of training teams of French believers from local churches in Lyon, France on missions ventures to the Kursk State University in western Russia. Following a review of the New Testament emphasis on sound doctrine as related to church planting, and the IMB's current strategy for evangelism and church planting, an eight-hour doctrinal course was developed, implemented and tested over a 16-month period with positive results. The methodology presented in this project is a combination of the following six components.  The director of Church of God World Missions has vast practical experience at various levels of leadership.  His desire is for a practical approach that has a large portion of training time taking place in an overseas or foreign context.  The next area of focus concentrates on strategic leadership meetings. While much time has been spent consulting with Church of God World Missions, other key departments have been consulted within our denomination as well. The third area of impact on the methodology of this project is the literature review.  Various sources have been used including lecture notes, books, and dissertations on holistic discipleship.  In addition, the literature review gathers specific information for the missionary training manual that is not a part of this dissertation project.  Another major factor that influences this project is my past ten years of experience in leading a discipleship training program.  These years of experience play a crucial role in shaping the discipleship component of the missionary training paradigm.  The fifth major area that has shaped this project is the courses and faculty I have been exposed to at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Several professors taught modules that have helped establish a holistic discipleship structure to minister to the whole person.  The final component is the data that was received from current Church of God missionaries that completed the design questionnaire. Three passages from Paul's writings (Eph. 1:4-10; 4:1-16; and 1 Corinthians 12) were researched as they relate to cross-cultural partnerships characterized by grace, including Paul's views of community, use of gifts, use of power, and grace.  The theoretical issues researched focused on Geert Hofstede's dimensions of individualism, power distance, and uncertainty avoidance.
