Each of these groups implemented one or more church growth programs during this ten-year period. The study of these groups showed strengths and weaknesses which are reflected in the projected four-year plan of church growth for the Free Methodists. Part I covers the development of Christianity in the Philippines beginning with the Spanish entrance in 1517 and continuing through World War II; part II gives an in-depth study of the development of the Free Methodist Church in the Philippines; part III studied the individual church growth programs of other related denominations; and part IV compares the different strategies and assimilates their strengths into a workable program of church growth for the Free Methodist Church in the Philippines. This program includes goal-setting, training, evangelism, incorporation of believers, and church planting."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720076232884224,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:00:13.423Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:27:04Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:11:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ec703c7d-d1ef-4343-a721-9e65a36e1534","accessControl_ssim":["2b4c6de4-bae0-4743-9798-b8b5e760409b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church planting: responsibilities and ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:27:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:53:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["73e3902c-b2b3-49b4-8af9-fa7b4b2e455c"],"hasLease_ssim":["c19b02f9-f7f4-453b-bd63-bdc6ce89f125"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert C Anderson"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jerry Back"],"publisher_tesim":["Western Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Strategy","Theology, Practical","Evangelistic work","Missions","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation-project examines the theological and practical foundations of an effective church planting ministry. Church planting is the New Testament answer for the evangelization of the country. Various current approaches to church planting strategy are recognized. Special attention is given to management principles and how they can be applied to church planting. The setting of essential goals is discussed in the framework of a PERT system (Program Evaluation and Review Technique). The project is structured to gradually develop this PERT system, step by step, beginning with spiritual awakening in a local church. The PERT plan presented here consists of four networks or chains of goals called events. Each of these networks moves toward a major goal in the plan. The text seeks to carefully explain each activity necessary in order to reach the following goal or event in the chain. The overall goal of the whole PERT strategy is to see this new church reproduce itself by planting others of the same kind."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717456127721472,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:18:34.696Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:19:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:29:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0a9fb91e-e791-414b-bfcf-e2419fb737a5","accessControl_ssim":["d9332bb3-2d00-431f-b848-12c7eeb2b94f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of the relationship between SIM International and the Evangelical Mission Society"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:19:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:25:00Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["363984bd-2320-4605-8d77-c7df3ab3d9f8"],"hasLease_ssim":["ddc1eebd-7217-456c-926c-ff4eda06f1e6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Arthur Johnston"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"location_tesim":["Nigeria"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ian M Hay"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Hausa (African people)","Missions","Baba, Panya","SIM (Organization)","Evangelical Missionary Society (Nigeria)","Evangelical Church of West Africa"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This is a study of the relationship between SIM International, an expatriate missionary society and the Evangelical Missionary Society (EMS), the indigenous missionary arm of Nigeria's Evangelical Churches of West Africa (ECWA). This project investigates the question and attempts to apply some answers. Specific objectives are (1) to relate what the traditional worldview is, (2) to learn, by means of a polled sample, what some present-day Zulus say about their beliefs and (3) to suggest missionary methods that will communicate the gospel within the current Zulu frame of reference. Historical beliefs are enumerated and seen to form a cohesive pattern of thought. A questionnaire shows what Zulus say on such subjects as cosmogony, cosmology, traditional medicine, taboos, Christian doctrine and Zulu religion. Attention is given to the implications of the Zulu worldview for missions. This study concerns itself with the historical background of the country, the mission agencies, and the evolutionary process that brought us to where we are today. This relationship, i.e., three mission agencies associated with one national church, suggests itself as a model for others to consider. Although it is not without its flaws, it continues to serve as an acceptable vehicle for evangelization. Other models of a partnership nature are considered for comparison. Certain cultural factors in the development of leadership styles are looked at.
