He led a team of ten Scottish ministers to evaluate the performance of twenty-two Southern Baptists who served in their country.  The team developed a twenty-two page instrument which was used in sessions with churches interested in missionary involvement. The sessions led the churches either to ask for or to refrain from seeking Southern Baptist help. Observable and statistical data demonstrated that the use of the instrument aided churches in informed, high-quality decision-making. Questionnaires were sent to over two hundred interested persons.  Study groups took the information and concluded that the greatest needs of the directors of associational missions and their wives relate to isolation.  Support groups were enlisted in four associations.  The design of the support meeting included planned activities to break down barriers, share and prayer time and informal conversation and games. The study examines the crisis, the denomination's historical and social origins, basis of union, and current mission strategies. Statistical analysis indicated no change; however, both the pre- and post-test scores of the participant apprentices resembled very closely those of previously successful church planter apprentices. Analysis of the information generated by questionnaires via telephone interviews indicated the orientation produced positive change, both hypothesized and additional. The project resulted in a far-reaching proposal for renewal of structure and strategy for the Presbyterian Church of Korea, some of which is being adopted at present.  The table of contents are: 1. the situation confronted by the Korean Church; 2. the theology of mission and Korean theological thoughts; 3. a responding mission community; 4. the Presbyterian Church of Korea's mission strategy as shown in survey results; and 5. mission strategy and plans for church renewal.
