The project consisted of intentional education, research and analysis of the intersections of evangelism, Family Systems Theory, Reformed theology, cultural exegesis, and Christian missiology, and used these understandings to explore and analyze growing Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregations in the American West. The study was conducted among the Maasai community of Kenya and Tanzania. The problem for the study concerned the fact that many Maasai's did not abandon some retrogressive elements of their culture that were in conflict with the Christian faith, even after embracing Christianity. The study employed Paul's framework in his letter to the Galatians where it is shown that Paul was not content to make converts but to transform Christians to be witnesses. The objective for this study was to use cultural structures of church leadership in order to mediate the Christian faith through the leaders. Ultimately, this study was aimed at showing how members can be transformed into witnesses through leadership. Qualitative data for this study was gathered from interviews through nonprobability sampling from the Maasai Methodist mission fields in Longido Tanzania. Data was analyzed through philosophical analysis and conclusions were drawn from the given samples. The findings and conclusions of this study point to the fact that converts to Christianity should become witnesses in their communities. While conducting a series of meetings with clergy and denominational leaders, the idea of building a collaborative network of United Methodist Churches that can be the foundation and support of a new church wasn't totally possible. The project director conducted extensive research through lending libraries and online. Research resulted in a curriculum used to equip selected church leaders. The project director increased his knowledge of strategy-planning and strategies for planting new churches. He selected and trained a strategy development team to aid in the process of developing a strategy. The project uses semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and participatory group observation to collect data on change in clergy participants' leadership of missional growth before and after implementation of skills derived from the practice of midwifery.  The data collected measures change in discernment ability and effectiveness in advancing mission. Matthew"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The dissertation seeks to answer two questions: 1) Was doctrine or the mission of making disciples the driving force behind the Great Commission Resurgence movement in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) that began in 2007 and culminated in the passing of the final report from the Great Commission Resurgence Task Force in 2010? (2) Was the driving force behind the Great Commission resurgence biblical and effective in reversing the stagnation and decline in the baptismal number of the SBC? In researching this, no major works were found that focused on this topic of doctrine versus mission as the motivating factor of the Great Commission Resurgence. In forming a research strategy, four areas were examined. First was the need to exegete the Great Commission from Matthew 28:16-20. The Greek text was studied for linguistic syntax and structure. Additionally, Bible dictionaries and commentaries were referenced. Second, it was necessary to look at recent history dealing with ecumenical movements and their effects. Third, the Great Commission Resurgence itself was investigated beginning with Daniel Akins's 'Answering the Call to a Great Commission Resurgence' at the 2007 Building Bridges Conference and culminating with the report form the taskforce at the SBC in 2010. Using an impact study, attitudes towards communion and missions were measured before and after a six-week period of weekly celebration of communion in worship and three mission experiences of the small group.
