Yet, through video partnerships, these churches have a chance to be or become missional. The nature of these rural video partnerships has been to help existing but dying rural churches find support and facilitate its health and life. This project surveyed past and present video partners to help determine whether the partnerships were or are achieving those goals. During phase two the project director led a selected group of leaders of the Covington Baptist Association of Covington County, Alabama, to develop a multifaceted strategy for the association. Sixty pastors were surveyed using a random sample of Christian Reformed Church pastors to ascertain what their congregations most needed in order to do international missions well, resulting in a strategic plan to serve congregations. The author explored the background of the sweeping changes that the Church faces in the twenty-first century, visited congregations of various sizes and locations to investigate how the average parishioner understands discipleship, and undertook the work of developing a parish covenant as a way of strengthening community and forming disciples for the work of mission. Parish surveys, semi-structured interviews and statistical analysis were employed. This project examined the initiation tradition of the two tribes to identify elements that the church could use to make the Christian faith more meaningful to them. The author used seminars and multiple intervention tools with selected members of the tribes. This paper will examine the challenges the church currently faces in reaching out to Hindu background believers (HBBs) and suggest means through which the church can improve its efforts at evangelization, by taking greater note of the Hindu religious milieu and exercising greater cultural sensitivity. It will examine how the problem of differing social norms that have emerged between Hindus and Christians can be overcome and how certain tenets of Hinduism can be adopted as a way of accurately conveying the gospel while others will have to be revised or discarded for evangelism to be effective. The wider context of evangelism in Malabar is studied through a literature review, visits to the area and interviews with those who are in active ministry in Malabar. The author used a questionnaire to gain information from HBBs in Malabar.
