The study concluded that character formation is enhanced when students practice spiritual disciplines in community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718303905611776,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:32:03.201Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:24:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:03:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c4c1b0dd-034e-4e64-bc7e-ca49a1858f29","accessControl_ssim":["625d6205-f9c5-4d9e-ad06-52e42d74164e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Real preaching: how a preacher's ethos shapes an authentic sermon"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:24:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:47:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e7c008f2-269a-4505-9895-3d69622dfcaf"],"hasLease_ssim":["bcd77806-e13c-456f-9d55-de664c0b916f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Dianne Shields"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Douglas Allen Learned"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["National Presbyterian Church (Washington, DC)","Clergy--Office","Moral education","Authenticity (Philosophy)","Communication--Religious aspects--Christianity","Bible--Homiletic use","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis project, taken on in my role as the Executive Associate Pastor at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., defines an authentic sermon as one in which listeners perceive dynamic congruence and continuity between four elements in preaching: 1) the Scripture passage, 2) the spoken message, 3) the character/personality of the preacher as presented in the sermon, 4) the character/personality of the preacher outside the sermon. Dedicated missionary training communities utilize informal education to achieve these desired outcomes. This project identified the predominant character qualities and attitudes found in various bodies of literature on missionary competency profiling. Further, it demonstrates that informal and nonformal education are the most suitable methods for effective character and attitude formation in pre-field missionaries. A correlation was presented based on the New Testament writings, demonstrating that Jesus Christ targeted character qualities and attitudes, and addressed these by using informal educational methods, and established an intentional community as the basis of addressing these training needs. This project also provided an instructional program designed for missionary training communities to increase awareness, model and practice seven desired character traits and attitudes."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719124039892992,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:45:05.342Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:06:01Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:52:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2dd0f54f-4ebb-45cb-9760-6c1c43f30a08","accessControl_ssim":["44e8074b-e0dd-429b-8ba3-d19e46ebbc63"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A storytelling curriculum for character development for children ages three years to five years for the Goldia and Robert Naylor Children's Center"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:06:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:28:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["914c678f-0851-4357-9e68-a6b822c17c88"],"hasLease_ssim":["a6603d35-e130-4209-bbd6-d906e93e7205"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Marcia McQuitty"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charity Muringo Maichungo"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian education of children","Moral education","Personality development","Goldia \u0026 Robert Naylor Children's Center"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Storytelling curriculum for character development for children ages three years to five years for the Goldia and Robert Naylor Children Center"],"abstract_tesim":["Five biblical stories which are developmentally appropriate for use with three to five-year-old children were selected. The criteria for the selection was based on their suitability for teaching community values and relationships to young children. The key moral values taught were love, kindness, caring, friendship, and sharing. The five biblical stories were used as a center of interest when developing character and teaching values to the three to five-year-old preschoolers. Character education is easier to espouse in the abstract than to provide in the concrete. So in writing the storytelling curriculum for character development, which I feel was successful, I tried to be as concrete as possible. The objectives for the writing of the curriculum were: (1) to develop a curriculum on Christian character development for preschoolers using a comparative approach which will be pilot-tested and then taught at the Goldia and Robert Naylor Children's Center at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; (2) to develop supplementary ways to present character development, teaching and forms of evaluation which will include parents' participation; and (3) to gain firsthand experience in writing stories for preschoolers and understanding preschoolers as well as involving their parents in the process of character education."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131776867893248,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:52.898Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":26,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
