Drawing on historical studies of music's role in the church, survey questionnaires circulated to church members, and personal interviews with members and present and former staff persons who have been involved with the music ministry, the project present four training sessions. Members of these churches exhibit diverse musical preferences and appear to welcome diversity. They find hymn singing essential to worship.
