It was hypothesized that Jungian Personality Type Theory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator could be effective means for enhancing students' self-understanding.  A teaching program was designed to study the effects.  A quasi-experimental method and a portfolio assessment of students learning were employed.  The findings indicated affirmative but not conclusive evidence. The project was conducted in three phases: (1) a four-hour introductory MBTI workshop, (2) an eight-hour MBTI team building workshop, and (3) one-hour review sessions conducted weekly for eight consecutive weeks. Both pro-active and quantitative methods of research were utilized. The project's purpose is to help the congregation effectively assimilate new people by placing them in fulfilling church service.  To accomplish this, consultants were trained to use the MBTI to place people effectively in church volunteer ministry.  This project concludes that Myers-Briggs is not an appropriate tool for 'placing' people in ministry.  The ethics of Myers-Briggs do not encourage such usage. The prayer styles reflected the functions of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.  In 73 percent of the cases, participants found a prayer style they preferred.  Levels of comfort, a sense of God's presence, and the style's similarity to prayer patterns utilized prior to the study were the strongest determinants of preference.  The author concludes that teaching people a variety of prayer styles is beneficial to spiritual growth. Implementation began with a fourteen-week seminar encouraging increased awareness and appreciation for personality and gifts as part of one's calling.  The MBTI helped people discover their personality gifts.
