The practicum's hypothesis is that when laywomen are introduced to their history through stories of significant laywomen and are provided occasions for personal reflection in the light of these stories, the experience will be empowering.  Women's contemporary situation is described and history is surveyed to substantiate the need for empowerment. The significance of stories is examined from both theological and feminist points of view. The church has sought to meet this problem with a strong storytelling approach.  The writer's thesis is that storyteller training is important for improving teacher quality.  To aid in training, the writer has developed a workshop guide through which even unskilled storytellers can help each other improve their skills, especially with use of tape recorders. Foundation studies covered the Korean church school context and the psychological, theological, and biblical backgrounds of story.
