The participants of this study were the worship attendees of the Holly Calvary United Methodist Church who listened to at least seven of ten sermons based on the Ten Commandments.  The study identified and described changes that occurred in affect, cognition, and behavior of these listeners by employing a quasi-experimental mode which utilized a pretest-midtest-posttest design with no comparison group. The project constructs narrative techniques in preaching and small groups to allow individuals to understand their lives in terms of character, plot, setting, and tone.  The experiment took place in a medium sized United Methodist Church in Ohio.  The study employed the one-group, pre-test/post-test design utilizing a questionnaire designed by the researcher.  The results were inconclusive.
