The systems approach provided a significant shift in perception about the congregation, which enabled the pastor to bring positive action to a very difficult situation. The multi-faceted approach included: the design and use of a semantic differential test (before and after) to determine the shifts in attitude; the cognitive goals of sermons, books, and discussions; the first-hand exposure to WCCC and a successful Maryland application; and the official vote of the congregation to shift to this model of ministry.  MCC was not sufficiently dissatisfied with the status quo to motivate them to make the large-scale changes necessary to adapt this model.
