Three communication skills were covered in six weekly training sessions.  Those skills were verbal, nonverbal, and listening.  Evaluation of the experimental group was performed by means of descriptive survey methodology, simple statistical analysis, and critical pastoral reflection. Statistically significant improvement of the entire experimental population was not observed, although the parent participants separately did demonstrate measurable improvement. To do this, three self-select groups (well-parented, dysfunctionally parented and reparented respondents) were all given a combination 'questionnaire-interview' (based primarily on the thinking of Kohut, Winnicott and Langs) and the MMPI.  Results were sought on seven specific MMPI scales.  Although the research hypotheses were not proved using these seven scales, several unhypothesized findings were worthwhile: there were correlations between the self-select group and overall health through general impressions of the whole of MMPI profiles looking at all the scales together. This course was based on a philosophy that was grounded in a study of theology and psychology.  This study led to a training program which emphasized the centrality of the parent-child relationship.  Many parenting skills which enhanced this relationship were presented and practiced.  These skills were in the areas of love, communication, gaining cooperation, discipline and building responsibility. Research was accomplished to discover children's basic developmental needs and parenting skills necessary to meet the needs.  A six-week parent training seminar was attended by seven parents.  Pre- and posttests were administered to parents and their children, with a time-lapse evaluation also given to parents.
