Members of the Mar Thoma church of South India failed to anticipate the serious and complex nature of this problem for their congregation in Dallas, Texas.  This project addressed this issue by building on a strong family structure and providing the resources of the Christian faith so that communication was enhanced between parents and children.  Parents and children thought family communication was facilitated when a shared praxis model was used. It concerns the development of a workshop and teaching manual on the biblical instructions which are given to parents.  The workshop is designed for Christian parents, and is constructed in such a way that it can best be used in church settings such as study groups, church training, weekend workshops, and retreats.  The major method of study and research was a personal in-depth study of scripture.  The results of the project were twofold.  First, it was established that a need exists for such a workshop within the ministry framework of the local church. After an examination and evaluation of John Westerhoff and James Fowler's work in faith development, interviews were undertaken with adults, young children, and clergypersons. Parents and all members of the faith community are vital in young children's faith development processes.  The faith community must be intentional in providing programs equipping and supporting the above in environments where young children can experience and hear about the faith. Included is the study of thirty-one women from a suburban Roman Catholic church, the subsequent presentation of findings on a matrix, and four case studies of women who showed a predominance in one of the phases of individuation, i.e., symbiosis, practicing, individuation, or distancing.
