The participants were eighteen parents and grandparents within New Community Church of St. Marys Ohio. Robert Coleman's eight principles in The Master Plan of Evangelism (selection, association, consecration, impartation, demonstration, delegation, supervision and reproduction) were the major focus of instruction and hands on week to week assignments. It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. This dissertation has three hypotheses. (1) There is an association between parental feelings of failure and coping with adolescent rebellion. (2) There is an association between parental feelings of guilt and coping with adolescent rebellion. (3) There is an association between parental feelings of blame and coping with adolescent rebellion. The Family Values Questionnaire was given to eight families of various compositions, each unit contained least one parent and one adolescent rebelling against the family's values and beliefs. The problem that this project addressed is that there is currently no general understanding of how current faith develpment research can be used to promote the spiritual development of children who are raised in Harmony. The six key areas of spiritual growth identified in these interviews are: relationship with parents, relationships with peers, relationship with significant adults, search for identity, transformative life events, and God's activity. Parents must be more concerned with their child's spiritual development than transferring their own faith to
