The empowerment this brings may offset the feelings of helplessness, anger and disappointment among those adversely affected when their church building is closed. Relevant research in consolidations is brought into dialogue with Church documents related to liturgy and the place where it takes happens, as well as to scholarship on theories of space land place. As a result, there has been an increase in the number of volunteers who perform ministerial roles once reserved to religious professionals. These volunteers often have not received the spiritual formation of their professional predecessors. Drawing from the U.S.C.C.B. document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, the author has created a program of spiritual formation for parish lay volunteers. Nine individuals were asked what made them receptive to the charismatic experience. Common influence factors were identified which the group members shared and which made them receptive to the charismatic experience. El Rev. Rick Warren, pastor de la iglesia de Saddleback, fue quien dio origen a dicha estrategia. La estrategia consiste en llevar a la congregación a responder a la pregunta, Para qué estoy acá en la tierra y en base a los cinco propósitos del programa y en función de grupos pequeños, arribar a una respuesta que produzca crecimiento en la vida de los creyentes y mayor asistencia a la iglesia local. El presente trabajo de investigación busca evaluar la efectividad del programa en tres iglesias de Lima, Perú. La hipótesis es: 'El programa de 40 Días con Propósito tiene una aplicación limitada con resultados distintos, dependiendo de la preparación, contexto y disposición los líderes involucrados. Además, los resultados de dicho programa no son permanentes sino que la mayoría de las personas llegan a la iglesia pero no permanecen más de un año a menos que se cuente un buen programa de discipulado.' Este trabajo utilizará diferentes instrumentos de medición. Estos instrumentos están en forma de encuestas y entrevistas personales. La conclusión a la que se ha llegado como resultado de la investigación, valida significativamente la hipótesis planteada. This study was a qualitative examination of the process by which deacons and elders developed into effective spiritual shepherds in their local churches. The qualitative study of six United Methodist churches affected by the divorce of their pastors, this study addresses the minimally researched phenomenon of how clergy divorce affects a local church and the factors that influence a local church in its recovery. The author discovered that a local churches recovery is influenced by various relationships that exist between the pastor and the local church. They desire a friendly, faith filled community that has an affirming and welcoming pastoral staff. The project methodology uses exploratory questions for the self-administered questionnaire, focus groups and personal interviews. The data analysis of the variables resulted in the following conclusions: 96% of the returnees actively search for a parish; they want a pastor who preaches and prays well; they want to be involved in ministry both within and beyond the parish. Finally they leave because of relocation or unfriendly pastor and
