The praxis director planned twelve worship services designing each element to engage one personality type as measured by the DiSC [registered symbol] model. Participants were surveyed as to engagement with each element. A double-blind study was maintained. Field research consisted of surveys, focus groups, and interviews in three congregations. Research focused on the barriers and incentives to assuming a leadership role, characteristics of leaders, models for structuring leadership, and equipping the congregations to participate in leadership. The research showed the largest factor in engaging leadership is a personal invitation by a respected leader. This direct appeal counteracts a common fear of not being qualified. The survey was administered to two groups in different cities in Tanzania, Africa, and to several groups from Northplace Church in Sachse, Texas. The examination is based on four different hypotheses administered through a descriptive survey of twenty-one questions. Hypothesis 1 investigates whether participation in a short-term mission trip increases activity in missions both locally and beyond. Hypothesis 2 considers whether participation in the short-term mission trip increases ministry involvement in the church through an increased awareness of other socio-economic groups and cultures. Hypothesis 3 determines whether participation in the short-term mission trip increases ministry involvement in the church through missions giving. Finally, Hypothesis 4 studies whether participation in a short-term mission trip increases ministry involvement in the church through an increased participation in spiritual formation.This research includes a literature review with respect to the purpose of missions with a focus on the short-term mission trip experience. The initial stage of implementation in regard to this project will be to present the strategy tot he deacon body for their consideration. The rejection or approval of the strategy will not determine the success of the project. The goal is to develop the strategy and present it tot he church, through the proper channels, for vote.
