Biblical, theological and personal definitions of salvation provide a faith basis with which the author relates the perspectives and methods of Transactional Analysis and gestalt therapy, in particular.  A processive, rather than a static, view of salvation provides the basic theological perspective for relating pastoral counseling and salvation.  James E Loder's four-dimensional model by which he explored the dynamics of convictional experiences is criticized and expanded by process theology's perspective.  An adapted Loderian model then provides a four-dimensional structure through which the author analyzes four case studies of psychotherapy processes and dynamics. After an in-depth analysis of RET, the study examines the difference between a scientific and a theological methodology and reviews the theological method of Bernard Lonergan.  Building upon Lonergan's thesis that a person needs to accept the responsibility to transform him/herself, his/her worlds, and his/her meanings, the dissertation examines a Pauline anthropology to consider the possibilities to equip persons with cognitive insights so that they might be able to do so. The group was conducted through the Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center of Nacogdoches, Texas, for a period of seven weeks.  Twelve people chose to participate in the group led by the writer.  Presentations were also made by a pastoral counselor and clinical psychologist. Each session included an opportunity for group members to share their problems with one another.
