Therefore, the first two chapters of this project demonstrate a complete frame of reference for conducting marriage and family counseling including explication of a fully integrated biblical/theological rationale for such counseling interventions. The special third chapter on premarital counseling is included to emphasize the importance of this often over-looked resource in marriage and family counseling. The theoretical framework for marriage and family counseling ministry presented in this project is cogently informed by the literature review in the second chapter leading to a clear definition of stylistic differentials. An example of one preferred and experientially typical style of intervention is demonstrated in the fourth chapter through a comprehensive family case study. The case study includes essential components of evaluative and interventive planning, such as diagnostic tools and apparatus, description and assessment of individual and family system dynamics, conceptualization process and development of a cohesive treatment plan using cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, and resources for spiritual formation, growth, and discipleship. The comprehensive treatment plan is followed in the fifth chapter by a critical evaluation and analysis of how the case has actually progressed to date. Volunteers took part in an intensive eight-week Christian caregiving course.  The course was designed to equip members with the basic skills necessary to provide competent pastoral care.  Three evaluative tools were used as the primary data gathering instruments: a caregivers' survey, a caregivers' interest questionnaire, and the Christian caregivers' course evaluation.  Results indicated that participants had the passion, gifts, and skills necessary for a care-oriented ministry. It considers the academic and field research that went into the course, the preparation, teaching, and evaluation of the course, what was learned from the course, and future applications.  This work focuses primarily on the grief associated with death.  Rather than helping pastors to find the right answers, attention is given to helping pastors ask the right questions in cross-cultural grief care. Perceptions regarding theodicy and case histories of this particular aspect of their faith journeys were analyzed to determine if process similarities existed. A study model was developed and applied to all of the interview data, and a sequence was observed. Interventions included creation of a new shared decision making team that was representative of clinical pastoral education staff, staff chaplains, and students.  Evaluation of thesis interventions focused on assessing changes in the attitudes of staff members from early resistance to collaboration.
