The training program included didactic seminars, counseling sessions, group discussion, case studies, and role play.  Experimental and descriptive research methodologies were used with control and experimental groups.  Statistically significant growth was measured in the deacons' understanding of senior adult needs, crime's impact on senior adults, and counseling senior adult victims. The paper includes a report and analysis of a workshop organized and led by the author and Gretchen Helm, EdD.  The workshop provides insights taken from an experience of reactions to the issues raised by the sexual abuse of female children.  Because the paper deals exclusively with counseling female survivors the biblical and theological perspectives are weighted toward the feminist perspective. Four sermons were preached in a worship setting, two deductive and two inductive. The focus of attention will be on the Church of God which is the oldest, continuing Pentecostal denomination in the United States.  The premise of this thesis is that a theology of pastoral counseling is found within the Wesleyan tradition by which the Holiness and Pentecostal movements were shaped.
