It was found that 86 percent of the respondents engaged in formal pastoral counseling; they engaged in counseling an average of 10 hours per month, and they encountered a limited variety of counseling problems. Congregational and community context and job-related institutional characteristics accounted for differences in both the amount and variety of counseling more than did clergy's personal characteristics. The local church should be the center for counseling and the pastor should supervise the counseling ministries under his authority.  There should be training for counseling ministries and the gifts of the Spirit are an integral part of them.  Method of research was a technique centered study with a focus on methods, models and programs used in counseling.  There were interviews with pastors, professional counselors and lay counselors.  There was an analysis of the history of the psychiatric hospitals in America established by the Mennonite Church.  There were also many case studies done by the author.  Much of the counseling is being done by Mennonite professionals and is mostly secular in content.  Some counseling is done by lay persons one-on-one and in small groups. Some pastors do biblical counseling and there are some congregational counselors. The informants were selected on the basis of their commitment and level of participation in the center.  This qualitative research encompassed a semistructured interview guide.  Five clients and five counselors were interviewed to determine the effectiveness of using womanist theology in the development of a pastoral counseling center.  The conclusion indicates that it is useful to use womanist theology in the development of a pastoral counseling center. Pastoral counseling was presented in the language of the conservative, Pentecostal church with an examination of the history of pastoral counseling movement, the Church of God, and a display of biblical counseling as it reflects upon psychology and the verbal inspiration of the biblical text.  A close look at the conservative vs liberal theological conflict of the pastoral counseling movement is examined.  It is research designed with a practical workshop that explains the pastoral counseling movement to the local church with information on developing a local church counseling center and the step-by-step process involved. This was a qualitative study using a stratified sample of six Sisters who had been sexually abused as children and had engaged in some form of pastoral counseling regarding this issue.  The results indicated that the convent was not always a safe place, that pastoral counselors have not always addressed the issue of sexual abuse, and that most of the participants have used the process of pastoral psychotherapy to recommit to religious life.
