The project offers testing and counseling--including the rituals of confession, the means of grace, and preaching--for 14 persons enrolled in a recovery program for sexual addiction. As a personality typology founded on the psychodynamics of sin in nine different self-presentations, the Enneagram can be used with a theologically based phenomenology and it identifies a direction for continued spiritual growth for each type. Workshop participants find the Enneagram useful in addressing issues of spirituality and increasing self-understanding and insight, but its usefulness in revealing and explaining sin is more limited. By examining the reality of persons with BPD in light of studies in psychology, missiology, process theology, and postmodern theology, the project seeks to discover alternate methods of communicating the message.
