The beginning point of the study is the psychological and spiritual suffering of the alienated psyche in the archetypal wasteland, a painful condition in which the individual feels separated and alienated from his or her own unconscious depths, from other people in human community, and from a seemingly destructive and unavailable God. This archetypal experience is viewed as the a priori condition for the healing of psyche and soul, a transformation which occurs through the establishment of a redeeming link with an infinite source of wisdom, guidance and blessing called, variously, the self-archetype or the greater personality in psychological language, or the mysterium tremendum or wholly other in theological language. The basic assumption of this study is that there is a religious instinct or drive within the psyche which mediates the contents of the objective psyche to the individual through images which disclose the symbolic meaning of events, reconcile opposites, and promote the individuation process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133189847121920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:20.420Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:27:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b28230b2-bc54-4da9-be8e-c90e49208ff9","accessControl_ssim":["8e5d866e-7d79-4068-9f37-4b0ac7970e59"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Significance of dreamwork in pastoral psychotherapy and the church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:05:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:17:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8d837ef4-f83e-418a-a31e-b9ec5548a953"],"hasLease_ssim":["e30fe738-b326-45ef-a606-5ce0e7054c3f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Paul Huss"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Sharon Adele Whittle"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral psychology","Freud, Sigmund, 1856-1939","Jung, C. When we know that God has suffered what we are suffering, we are able to be healed in our traumatic confrontations, and to grow in faith through this suffering, either to a new wholeness of life, or to live completely to the end in the face of death. The thesis was tested in marriage counseling, in care of the dying and bereaved, and in unemployment counseling. People in less serious situations found the concept less helpful; people in trauma found the concept helpful, as reported in fifty-five interviews."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717799503855616,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:24:02.166Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:57:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:30:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"06a59f00-ad25-4814-8b4b-ac4123498e7a","accessControl_ssim":["5ed4db9e-23a1-4e96-9f49-637fede4a9da"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Effective handling of manipulative persons"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:57:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:18:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e72040c5-4533-4ad8-9c34-8972ab8c6133"],"hasLease_ssim":["792902e1-eacf-4bc2-a839-eaf769ec79ce"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David A Steere"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John D Lentz"],"publisher_tesim":["Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral psychology","Manipulation","Church work with prisoners"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project assists people working in corrections to better understand and effectively handle manipulation.
