What is the difference between pastoral care, pastoral counseling, and non-Christian therapy?    What is distinctively 'pastoral' about pastoral counseling in the parish and elsewhere?To answer the first question, a Christian view of God, the world, and mankind was examined. How a pastor views these will dramatically affect how he/she does counseling. If God is viewed as gracious and loving of everything and everybody, as opposed to being a vindictive moral judge, that certainly will affect the method and direction a pastor takes when counseling others. To answer the second question, the difference between pastoral care, pastoral counseling, and non-Christian therapy were examined. It was discovered that the main difference between pastoral care and counseling was mainly one of degree. What applies to pastoral care basically applies to pastoral counseling. For both to be done well and effectively, they involve a relationship of love and grace. Some of these perceptions apply to the churches in the community, and their characterization within these perceptions may have an impact upon their ministry. The tapes focus on critical areas of pastoral care within the hospital: The Initial Call, The Presurgical Call, The Spiritual Needs of Patients, Family Members and Imminent Crises.  The tapes will be used for the orientation of pastors who volunteer to serve as night chaplains.  The pastors who volunteer are ordained by their respective denominations, but few of them have been clinically trained as chaplains.  The video tapes have been produced to help introduce the volunteer chaplains to the environment of the hospital in which they will be doing pastoral care.  The tapes endeavor to provide some of the pastoral skills which pastors may be lacking. The tapes teach sound pastoral theology and provide models of pastoral care which the volunteer pastors can discuss and evaluate.  The didactic material raises the issues faced by the patient.  It then seeks to address these issues through actual models of pastoral care. It begins with a critical assessment of the approaches of O. Hobard Mowrer and Jay E. Adams and proceeds to the contemporary proclamation of grace in preaching as well as in counseling, and takes issue corporally with both writers' views of Freudian psychoanalysis.  The project seeks to integrate a responsible concept of a doctrine of justification with Freudian psychoanalysis. The report outlines biblical and theological bases for the concept of counseling through preaching.  Methodology entailed determination of issues people wanted addressed; preparation of sermons based on those concerns and summarizing feedback received by several means. The purpose of the practicum was to provide a setting in which counseling skills would be improved and in which awareness of women's experiences would be increased.  The project provided an opportunity for reporting the practicum findings and incorporating this information into theological reflection. Corporate leadership is discussed from Biblical, historical, and theological perspectives.  A broad theory is developed suggesting several consequences of team leadership that ultimately affect church growth.  Questionnaire responses assessing team relationship and church growth are correlated by computer analysis. Examination of some growing churches reveals pastor and leaders sharing significant time together.
