This framework takes the form of four interlocking leadership principles that have their foundation in Natural Systems Theory and Creation Theology. Each of the four chapters of this project is dedicated to one leadership principle. The thesis begins by surveying the congregation to learn about their three greatest personal crises.  Thirteen messages were delivered on Sunday mornings to address these crises.  Detailed fill-in-the-blank sermon notes were included in each Sunday's bulletin.  These inserts were accumulated into a resource booklet after the project as a quick reference tool to assist the congregation in caring for their neighbours, family and friends during a future crisis. This paper uses Walter Brueggemann's orientation, disorientation, new orientation schematic to define stages, resources, and actions to use with individuals, families, and groups before a crisis occurs, in the midst of crisis, and post-crisis.  The author has developed a model which uses core components of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) combined with psalms and other faith-based resources to form a protocol for a faithful intervention in a crisis situation. This project involves working with the corporate and personal grief of a particular congregation in its attempts to deal with a series of losses within the church. This project proposes that correlations between personal and corporate grief allow techniques used in facilitating the grief process in one to aid in the grief process of the other.  Deliberate use of pastoral work aided the congregation in its grief journey. Correlations were found between personal and corporate grief. This necessitates the intervention of pastoral care. This project focuses on one inner-city school, and the need some of its students and members of staff have for pastoral care. The Christian Church, and the role that pastoral care plays in its ministry are explored, and ten cases discovered to be in need of pastoral care intervention are highlighted.
