From this information, a homiletical improvement guide for twenty-first century practitioners will be presented by modernizing a plan that mirrors Edwards's structural transitions from beginning to end. A descriptive survey was conducted. The study identified the enormous impact of Confucianism on the leadership challenges of SBC alumnae. The alumnae's top ten leadership challenges include overcommitment, burnout, perfectionism, overly high expectation of oneself, balancing family and ministry, balancing motherhood and ministry, conflict resolution, implementing change in ministry, decision making, and excessive concern over the criticism toward oneself. A review of leadership, adult learning and cultural change literature, semi-structured open-ended interviews and a focus group provided data that was analyzed using Grounded Theory to identify five essential leadership qualities and competencies. Equipping in four of these proved to reduce the gap. Among the key findings: the existence of a gap was confirmed and leadership qualities were deemed more important than competencies. The project explored the understanding of pastoral care as 'cure of souls' and the engagement of intentional presence in that cure, Christ's presence and human presence. This project helps leaders to serve the Lord in faith and good courage while helping them avoid the spiritual dangers of serving self and the powers of darkness in meetings. The focus of this effort is on the moments following alarm or the awareness of stress that is being generated by one's heart. The researcher trained the five men and nine women of the Parish Planning Council on three theological foci: a theology of thinking in crisis, a theology of worship in service, and a theology of leadership in suffering. Each of these monthly sessions was reinforced by a weekly Bible study and a monthly opportunity for a one-on-one meeting where applications of the Alarm Model were made to current issues. She used accompaniment and embodied participatory methodologies in worship, with leaders, in symplaysiums, and in building a labyrinth to open up space for discovery, healing, and change at Haven Shores Community Church. Action research formed the basis of the project. Following the interim period, the author collected data from the congregation through a questionnaire and individual interviews. The research methodology was a qualitative study of two ministers in the Presbyterian Church in Canada, one a recent graduate and the other a recent immigrant.
