This paper uses Walter Brueggemann's orientation, disorientation, new orientation schematic to define stages, resources, and actions to use with individuals, families, and groups before a crisis occurs, in the midst of crisis, and post-crisis.  The author has developed a model which uses core components of the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) combined with psalms and other faith-based resources to form a protocol for a faithful intervention in a crisis situation. The kingdom offers an alternative paradigm in contrast to established evangelical forms grounded in human wisdom and understanding.  Through biblical paradigms and statistical research, the author describes the condition of early 21st-century American Christianity.  Through the use of systems thinking and cultural diagnosis he defines what he terms the 'seven deadly D's' of American church life.  The kingdom of God is presented as the only theological systemic approach to remedy these maladies.  This work is unique in its pastoral perspective, narrative style, and cognitive processing. Understanding the kingdom and learning to live and lead within a kingdom framework will equip many evangelical pastors, leaders, and laypeople to progress from personal burnout toward a more hopeful position. The significance of this work is in recovering the kingdom of God as the necessary biblical corrective to modern evangelical leadership formation and church practice.  This includes implications for the rethinking of evangelicalism, a new approach to theology, and the formation of multidimensional leadership.  This will assist 21st-century Christian leaders in dealing with complexity, diversity, changing spiritual paradigms, and interdenominational unity. This project involves working with the corporate and personal grief of a particular congregation in its attempts to deal with a series of losses within the church. This project proposes that correlations between personal and corporate grief allow techniques used in facilitating the grief process in one to aid in the grief process of the other.  Deliberate use of pastoral work aided the congregation in its grief journey. Correlations were found between personal and corporate grief. This necessitates the intervention of pastoral care. This project focuses on one inner-city school, and the need some of its students and members of staff have for pastoral care. The Christian Church, and the role that pastoral care plays in its ministry are explored, and ten cases discovered to be in need of pastoral care intervention are highlighted. It is concerned with the history and theories of laughter in terms of how they connect with current pastoral attitudes toward it. Questions of appropriateness are central to this exploration.  A primary premise of the work is that laughter is a significant component of pastoral ministry, but its study seems marginalized by the church.  This incongruence is further aggravated by the fact that much of the rest of the world accurately sees laughter as a significant social force.  Except for the church, all other entities in society interested in shaping society seem to know the power and place of laughter. To address this inconsistency, this study reviewed all available literature and the Scriptures in order to discover the theories and views of laughter leading theologians and philosophers have had and then apply the best of the categories emerging from this to a current understanding of laughter.  Both surveys and interviews uncovered what the current understanding of laughter is for a sample of pastors within the geographical framework of New York's Hudson Valley. This project provides a model for creating a ministry  of lay pastoral care for all congregational members through a small group ministry of pastoral caregivers, a priesthood of all believers.  Intimate, spiritual support for the lay caregivers in this ministry is offered through group spiritual direction. Ruth","Pastoral theology","Image of God"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of this dissertation is that through narrative exegesis of the book of Ruth and its applications in pastoral ministry we may learn to experience God's faithfulness and blessings and to restore the magnificence of God's creation of man and woman in his image and likeness so as to make life abundant in God's presence.  The research methodology is as follows.  First of all the literary analysis of narrative forms will be explained.  Since the Book of Ruth is of the story type, exegesis of this book through the narrative form seems to be a very good method used.  Then, the elements of narrative are used in interpreting the Book of Ruth.  Finally, we will explain how to apply the life stories of the main characters as told in the analyzed narrative of the Book of Ruth to the situations people confront today.
