This public role as prophet, priest and servant, derives from Christ our prophet, priest and king. Research included an ethnographic study, featuring both an auto-ethnographic aspect that considers the emerging relationship of pastor and congregation and interviews with congregational leaders and United Methodist clergypersons within South Georgia. Implementation occurred on the Westside of Detroit, Michigan. The mixed research utilized: (1) participant observations; (2) focus groups; (3) survey and questionnaires; and (4) data collection from interviews, newspapers and published reports. The findings clarified approaches for community engagement and isolated barriers. The summary conclusion supports the church, collaborative partners and residents' engagement in community events that may significantly reduce youth violence. Without sufficient care of self, therapists risk burn out, empathy overload, and an inability to continue in the profession. A particular problem exists for marriage and family therapy interns balancing academic studies, clinical practice and personal lives. This project explores intern therapist engagement in creative activities as a form of self-care and stress reduction. While self-report scales reflect the benefit of creative activities for self-care, more study is needed. The project consisted of researching assorted beliefs and practices concerning spiritual warfare in a variety of Christian traditions, then writing a text which integrated the practices into a single model. The resulting resource was evaluated by a panel of experts from a broad range of Christian traditions.
