The focus in this project is upon training church members (disciples) to provide meaningful initial interaction (discipling) with new members (disciples) which flows from an understanding of discipleship that is wholistic. A biblical and theological perspective is offered on pastoral concerns emerging from family life in the changing society.  The roles of family members which contribute to a responsible church and society are considered, along with family planning.  Separation of husband from family to work in distant places for economic survival is a most serious situation impacting families in Kenya.  The church has an important role on educating families to survive and reshape society. The basis for a twentieth-century hermeneutic is explored through Barth's 'Epistle to the Romans,' in which he posits that the hermeneutical key to Paul's letter is 'krisis.'  Included is an exploration of Charles Gerkin's works on hermeneutics in pastoral care with theological emphasis.  Crises stories from six persons and a biblical story are analyzed in group session by the methods obtained from Gerkin. Conclusions from pastoral interviews and presentations are cited. A theology of pastoral care is provided. A design for a reproducible program of general visitation by persons in a congregation is given.  Forms are provided for assessing one's spiritual condition.  Growth in visitation skills is measured by a pre- and post-test given to each visitor. Spiritual growth of the visitors is assessed. Alcoholism was defined as a multifaceted disease with physiological, psychological, sociological and spiritual components.
