Schleiermacher, Barth, Bultmann, Tillich and Moltmann are considered as most important from theological literature. Freud, Jung, Frankl, Maslow, Rogers and May are the psychologists discussed. A case presentation is utilized to allow an interpretation of theological and psychological constructs. Specific conclusions and implications are drawn for pastoral care, theological education, church ministry and lay application. The basic constructs and conclusions of the work were presented to four different pastoral care audiences and the feedback from the participants is presented."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e84517db-6a02-4e61-8d84-c85c5905f6d5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127220571340800,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:40:27.675Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:09:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:31:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6cfca464-7dba-478e-b848-25a341be134a","accessControl_ssim":["01b57908-ee4a-4aa8-a301-6e095ec0a645"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A theological/biblical perspective of the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous for implementation in ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:09:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:19:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7fa1861e-871f-4c40-a701-86cdcb44b261"],"hasLease_ssim":["3d5d9441-b95a-43e2-ae45-6a8ee50d4199"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ronald North"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Dennis C Morreim"],"publisher_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Oxford movement","Alcoholics Anonymous","Church work","Pastoral theology","Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Within the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous there are numerous theological and biblical themes ingrained. Each of the steps is viewed in the thesis. Some of the theological/biblical themes that emerge are: pneumatology and faith, conversion/spiritual transformation, confession, reconciliation and forgiveness, justification by grace, sanctification, freedom, baptism, prayer and meditation, worship, spiritual awakening, evangelism, and discipleship. Research is gathered from existing data and excerpts from over 30 taped interviews with persons who are either recovering alcoholics or are CD counselors in a treatment program and have some affiliation with the Christian faith. They were asked as to any theological/biblical themes they perceived in the twelve steps. The intent of this thesis is to assist in the construction of bridges for communication and understanding between those in AA and those in the church. It begins with an overview of the Oxford Group Movement and its 8 points and explores the birth of AA looking specifically at the lives of the co-founders. The thesis concludes with examples of how an understanding of the 12 steps can be used in ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126641922015232,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:31:15.832Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:09:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:16:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"057fb672-26b3-4662-9af1-d96721858115","accessControl_ssim":["0acd5136-d9dd-4f64-a0fa-1059a39c2016"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Taking the first step: experiment in integrating Pauline understanding of the church in 1 Cor 12 into the life of Faith Lutheran Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:09:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:16:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["05ad4c40-9d57-4a63-93ae-947df8e32087"],"hasLease_ssim":["65b2e99a-6a31-4a38-a450-9a8f0e7f3fea"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Alan Harre","Robert H Albers"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carl H Rehwaldt"],"publisher_tesim":["Luther Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral theology","Lutheran Church","Congregations","Bible. The project helped to develop a new climate of developmental expectation in the congregation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718521238716416,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:35:30.466Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:02:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:33:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"31f849d4-6d84-447a-beb4-325362b17096","accessControl_ssim":["60370a2e-0270-4205-8a44-20288741cfa3"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of pastoral visitation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:02:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:35:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9656e05c-e074-4867-bcb6-ae3477964132"],"hasLease_ssim":["017cb333-1344-47d3-b01e-43e8d9f2d967"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Gordon E Jackson"],"year_tesim":["1984"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Frank Robert James"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Office","Spiritual direction","Visitations (Church work)","Pastoral theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Pastoral visitation is studied biblically and historically.
