This dissertation takes a thorough look at Romans 6:1-14 in order to prepare a homiletic outline from which a sermon series is developed. Paul's situation, purpose for writing, and flow of thought are analyzed, and the verses are then studied in the original language. The terms 'gospel,' 'kerugma,' and 'contextualization' will be defined and delineated. Examining Paul's sermons in Acts with those by the early Apostles (Acts 2:14-42; 3:12-26) a unified threefold rhetorical methods and message is discovered.
