Although studies show that US girls are not more sexually active than girls from other nations, the American teenagers are more likely to become pregnant.  This paper explores the sociological, psychological and theological reasons for this phenomena.  It then proposes a client-centered Rogerian approach for counseling these teenagers.  This approach appears to lead girls to make healthier choices for themselves.  The thesis is based on the work of one counselor in the county adolescent clinics of Indianapolis, Indiana. This educational model explores the phenomenon of conflict with these youth.  It has participants practice conflict resolution skills which relate primarily to personal lifestyles and interpersonal relationships.  The project is informed by a biblical-theological-ethical understanding of conflict which has as its foundation the theology of Reinhold Niebuhr.  It also takes into account human developmental psychology in the forms put forward by James Fowler, Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg.
