Chapter 1 outlines the purpose, goals, context, rationale, and research methodology for the project. Chapter 2 provides the theological and exegetical basis for using the Book of Ecclesiastes as pedagogy. Salient issues related to the purpose and meaning of Ecclesiastes are discussed with special attention directed to the project's curriculum, Ecclesiastes 2:1-11. A justification for Solomonic authorship is presented as well. Chapter 3 explores expository preaching in the context of postmodernism. This chapter defines 'postmodernism' and traces the development of hermeneutics as the foundation of postmodern thought. It also examines the rationale for employing expository preaching as both antithesis and antidote for postmodernity. Chapters 4 and 5 present the specific elements of the ministry project. Organization of test groups is described and pre-test/post-test questionnaire methodology is detailed. Effectiveness of the project's sermon series is evaluated based on the analyzed data."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127863516200960,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:50:40.835Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:41:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:40:04Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fa0c673c-8b98-47d1-9295-1c3ed31b7613","accessControl_ssim":["5b7c51c1-0027-42fd-b25e-b4e697f54f7b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Deconstruction and re-imagination of liturgy in a local congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:41:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:16:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2fe74ab9-3558-4099-8fdc-1c6fac2b9192"],"hasLease_ssim":["f75e5d23-594a-499d-9eef-530da055492e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Roy SteinhoffSmith"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charisa L Hunter-Crump"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["History","Postmodernism","Liturgics"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Christian liturgy is shaped by the metaphors for Jesus that have evolved through two thousand years of theological reflection. A reinterpretation of the law/gospel dialectic and a collection of homiletic tools are offered to address this shift. The reflection of a focus group on a series of sermon demonstrates that a reinterpretation of the law/gospel dialectic, assisted by new models of preaching, can address the unique challenges of a postmodern context."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126689561968640,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:32:01.265Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:06:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:08:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a24179e0-1776-4c62-ac44-374b5758a232","accessControl_ssim":["c2385465-4450-480b-8881-9792014ced9b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Taking disciple-making seriously: a plan for forming, equipping and sending adults at Germantown Presbyterian Church, Germantown, Tennessee"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:06:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:51:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0beae6a5-0fc2-40b4-a055-6c4c81529839"],"hasLease_ssim":["1aff4669-91e4-4fea-b4f4-35131a3d8033"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Darrell L Guder"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Louise U Lawson"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Postmodernism","Christian life","Germantown Presbyterian Church (Germantown, Tenn)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["In a postmodern culture, the church can no longer take its identity, mission, message and perhaps even its future for granted.
