The workshop involved a diverse group of professionals from a wide range of disciplines and specialties on the campus of the Baptist Health System's Montclair Hospital. Intercessory prayer is necessary tool for wholistic health care because it connects people and enables them to 'touch' one another. Although prayers come in many different forms and often have surprising results, prayer is intended to be integrated with relationships. Questions were posed to discern if the prayer was meaningful and why (or why not) it was deemed so.  Responses to these questions are studied in light of relevant theological and pastoral care literature.  Entries from a journal written during a time of crisis are reviewed for ways in which prayer might have been voiced to meet spiritual needs.  Finally, prayer responses to questions surrounding spiritual crises are offered to illustrate the conclusion drawn from this investigation that there are identifiable factors that contribute to meaningful, voiced intercessory
