It is concerned with questions having to do with the discipline of prayer in the spiritual development of Christians. A primary premise of the work is that greater practice of prayer and a more disciplined prayer life will aid and encourage spiritual growth. The author suggests that many followers of Jesus Christ are not utilizing the great gift of prayer in their lives. The study attempts to correlate greater participation in prayer and the spiritual development of the one who is praying. Further, there is an attempt to assess at what point the participants believed that there was a 'diminishing return' to their prayer life, i.e., how much time dedicated to prayer is enough each day. Further, there is an attempt to correlate increased activity of prayer and the spiritual revitalization of an entire congregation. The thesis begins with theological reflection on the nature and value of prayer. The work moves on to an historical analysis of the Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church, followed by a review of the literature pertinent to the subject. The project design is discussed, and the outcomes of the project are noted. The last chapter deals with the project's implications for ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130042880753664,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:25:19.239Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:46:27Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"12a98aee-f1f3-4581-ad9a-ef841b66de38","accessControl_ssim":["b8c64054-f2ad-4ea2-b2ad-74f61121936a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An intercessory prayer strategy for evangelism in the Seventh-day Adventist Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:36:57Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:39:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2a8ba849-dbc1-40d2-b0da-97aebe1bc9ff"],"hasLease_ssim":["384a9983-1306-43a3-a519-73d0057c5a24"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andrews University"],"advisor_tesim":["Russell Burrill"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marek W Piotrowski"],"publisher_tesim":["Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary of Andrews University"],"subject_tesim":["Seventh-Day Adventists","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation seeks to develop and design an intercessory prayer strategy for evangelism in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The strategy design has a theological foundation and is based on certain prominent Christian prayer ministries. The theological foundation consists of an investigation of the most well-known Scriptural passages related to the topic. The writings of various Christian authors are also examined, and a sweeping study is made of the place of prayer in the history of the Adventist Church. The dissertation also contains a survey of certain prominent prayer ministries and an investigation of the Adventist Church's prayer ministries is documented. The heart of the dissertation is the design of the evangelistic prayer strategy. The strategy consists of two foci: a strategy for an Adventist congregation as well as a strategy for the Global Mission project of the Adventist Church. An additional focus is given to prayer for Adventist church leaders. The strategy for the local church encompasses the following concepts: (1) creating a vision for evangelism, (2) facilitating a spiritual climate in a local church in which the strategy can be functional, (3) instituting an intentional teaching seminar about evangelistic intercessory-prayer for the church, (4) organizing prayer cell groups, (5) designating a prayer-room at the local church, (6) giving a special emphasis for evangelistic prayer during the weekly worship service, and (7) organizing a prayer-team during an evangelistic crusade. The different parts are implemented in three different distinct phases: pre-crusade, during the crusade, and post-crusade. The main recommendations for instituting an evangelistic prayer strategy in the Adventist Church include a focus on improving the local church pastors' prayer life and spirituality. Leaders in the highest levels of church administration should also be examples of prayer and should give prayer a constant emphasis. A recommendation is made for the Prayer Ministries Coordinator to be more visible in the highest levels of church administration. Other recommendations include a need for certain structural adjustments in the Adventist Church in order for intercessory prayer to be more distinctly expressed. This includes the inclusion of a prayer-room for the future design of Adventist Churches as well as methods by which prayer for Global Mission may be communicated to the Adventist World Church membership."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andrews University"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4b1d9df2-25d6-46f6-a889-1871c277d61c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135151390982145,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:46:31.094Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:35:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:36:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"129be1fb-7a28-48a3-9b43-e6307e6b9eba","accessControl_ssim":["b58f8e3d-9d53-420a-97d6-e116b511e438"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Physical healing in 'main line' congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:35:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:39:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["943dafbc-ad43-4d4e-ad9a-7b928d7893da"],"hasLease_ssim":["39f01310-4f86-482b-bc4b-7a0d6c8aef81"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Merle R Jordan"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mark A Pearson"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Protestants","Prayer","Healing"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this thesis was to discover beliefs about and prevalence of physical healing as a complete or partial result of prayer in 'Main Line' Protestant denominations. 'Centering prayer' is a way of praying that encourages one to take a practical step to silently encounter God's presence at the centre of one's being. The original this of this project explored the use of centering prayer as a viable tool to enhance the devotional life of Korean Protestant Christian immigrants in Canada participating in this action-in-ministry. A proactive research method was used in this study. The conclusion of the project is that centering prayer is an effective tool to enhance devotional life. It is a viable method particularly for those whose living context is busy and emotionally overwhelmed by conflicts in their lives."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126569147695104,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:30:06.429Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:15:12Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:04:29Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4d1b37d4-59e2-4ee2-82de-83b55df33dae","accessControl_ssim":["83e65269-fdef-4d58-a4a8-fc0879719923"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'A still place of your presence': building intentional community for prayer"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:15:11Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:23:57Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3df3d6d7-9f15-4c9e-949c-58b4ff5f5c09"],"hasLease_ssim":["881447f4-7d29-48ac-a63e-76022e7dbf21"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Arthur Thomas","Lucy Lind Hogan"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The research design was pro-active: a qualitative case study model including text and Internet research, document review, observation, interviewing, retreat, and journaling. Other methodologies included theological study, synthesis of data, field notes and the overarching process of discernment through discussion and prayer with other participants. The result of research is the formation of the Community of Alpha and Omega, a global community for intercession, linked primarily through Internet technologies and responsive to the need and challenge for God's people to 'pray without ceasing' in support of God's kingdom purposes in the twenty-first century."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716571359215616,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:04:30.916Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":7,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
