The work includes a comprehensive word study on prayer and exegesis of significant prayer passages, including Jesus' prayer instructions in Matthew and Luke. The project provides analysis of the relationship between prayer, faith and the sovereignty of God and the goal of prayer. The project used preaching, small groups and prayer journals as project methods. Proposed strategies were recommended.  Personal interviews were employed.  The findings of the study showed that, in various degrees, all the participants of short-term missions continued to intercede for missions. The major presupposition is that prayer expresses a growing relationship with God.  During the months of August through December 2000, I interviewed thirty United Methodist pastors in the Greater Orlando area.
