The spirituality of prayer is vital both in an individual life and in the life of a community.  When faced with personal difficulties, family issues, social conflicts, and relationship problems, we pray and ask others to pray for us.  It is natural for us to ask for intercessory prayer when troubles come in our daily lives.  A theology of prayer regards prayer as a key to all these troubles. To that effect a triangulation or integration of both quantitative and qualitative research methods were applied to this study as best research methods during collection and analysis of data. Therefore, the archival research, questionnaires responses from 55 missionaries in Ethiopia, the literature reviews of scholars and interviews of respective people were intensively conducted as part of data collection. A survey to measure the response of participants to that presentation was administered and the results of that survey tabulated. The results of the study provided evidence that Inner Healing Prayer had a positive impact on the participant's Upward Journey with God. Research about the experience of pastoral discouragement is compiled through interviews with four pastors serving in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A), congregational level.  The divine sense of call is explored along with the dilemma of pastoral discouragement.  The paper identifies five common causes of pastoral discouragement: pastoral roles and ministry expectations, lonerism and unused support mechanisms, ministry as a helping profession, diminished pastoral authority and cultural status, and institutional decline.
