Since usual prayer forms are not helpful during times of emotional breakdown, the author designed a course in prayer, using both verbal and non-verbal modalities.  Using a phenomenological methodology, the study demonstrates that by expressing pain in a community of co-sufferers, the participants were able to discover new images of God, and new ways of praying while experiencing acute suffering. It develops a couples' prayer workshop as an intervention tool to promote marital prayer, and evaluates the results through pre- and post-tests of the experimental and control groups. No significant difference is found in a comparison of either the practice of conjoint prayer or for marital adjustment. The research includes an eight-week, fourteen hour seminar/workshop that features the prayer principles from the Lord's Prayer in theory and in practice. A prayer survey given before and after the training measures changes in the prayer practice of the trainees. The paper gives a biblical and historical overview and discusses contemporary objections to healing ministry.  It examines three settings where healing ministry is practiced. The author clarifies his theological understanding and traces through journal entries his initial experiential involvement in healing ministry.  He shares reflections/learnings which may be of value to others interested in beginning a practice of healing ministry. A study of the nature of prayer reveals that its primary intent is communion with God, not the registering of requests.  The task of this project was to lead the members of the Piedmont Park Church to develop stronger habits of personal prayer by deepening their understanding of its importance, potential and meaning.  A prayer curriculum was applied during a six month period.  Its seven parts included: sermons, meditations, prayer partners, mid-week services, week of prayer, video presentation and systematic pastoral prayer.  Both the Piedmont congregation and a comparison group (who did not receive the curriculum) were surveyed before and after the curriculum to monitor any change within each group. While the Piedmont group indicated an increase in understanding the importance, potential and meaning of prayer, it indicated decline in actual practice.  Conversely, the comparison group indicated a decline in understanding and an increase in practice.
