The methodology for this model of ministry includes personal, leadership, and congregational preparation through scripture and prayer, the formation of prayer groups, and practical participation in intercessory prayer. Qualitative analytical research and review revealed after a period of three months that prayer ministry in church is key to spiritual renewal both within and outside the church, and a source of power for effective ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721658843398144,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:25:22.719Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:39:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:38:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6735b58b-24f3-4c79-94b0-0701d1ab304a","accessControl_ssim":["29f87ead-9073-46ed-9f24-2e7d00549fef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The pull to prayer"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:39:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:08:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bb8c8d2d-c0b5-4246-9b3c-20d893432f9c"],"hasLease_ssim":["39298b17-0a72-4f20-adb6-e5d1f12c0115"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald C Guthrie"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Douglas K Russell"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Social groups","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation seeks to understand the reasons why those who pursue united prayer have done so. It also seeks to glean how those given to united prayer motivate others. The method of research included a thorough study of Scripture, an intensive review of literature, personal observations, and extensive interviews. The interviews included six key experts, as well as three focus groups. The results of the research revealed that relationships were the key theme in encouraging united prayer. Anyone who wishes to motivate Christians to united prayer must develop environments where believers can build relationships. Spiritual renewal was also significant."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130889223143424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:46.374Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:19:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:48:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"916dad95-1109-4cdb-a37e-1e70fab101e6","accessControl_ssim":["9fdc3779-332e-44a3-bc28-e687ae6ca00a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["'Prayer and fasting': developing a strategy to equip Christians in Thailand to access the power of prayer and fasting"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:19:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:23:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["78d39eea-ce23-40be-81e0-2a97b98938e8"],"hasLease_ssim":["9e0e658b-e43b-43a0-9af8-9422885a7fba"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Don H Stewart"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"location_tesim":["Thailand"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Winit Wongsonsern"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Prayer","Church history","Fasting--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop a strategy whereby Christians would access the power of prayer and fasting. The study employed a researcher-designed instrument, The Church Heart Exam, to measure shifts in heart attitudes. 100 members of Saint Luke United Methodist in Lexington, Kentucky served as a non-treatment control group."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134580535721984,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:37:26.684Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:51Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9573a60c-495c-4a71-bc84-f340c314dab2","accessControl_ssim":["397da240-e11d-4e90-b549-b7d10ebc6fc9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Teaching the church how to offer intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:46:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:30:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["30797235-3610-440d-bb7d-68f82a0998fe"],"hasLease_ssim":["63ab540b-bb34-4ad6-9b13-570c2b65a8c4"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stanley P Saunders"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven Jay Voris"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Good and evil","Enemy","Prayer"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Intercessory prayer for enemies and evildoers is an advanced prayer practice that has received little attention in the church even though it is attested in scripture and examples can be found in the Christian mystical tradition. During a proscribed period of multi-dimensional prayer at Rainbow Community Praise Center of Seventh-Day Adventists, the writer observed an overall increase in leadership effectiveness, member empowerment and church morale. Final conclusions articulated in the last chapter are: (1) multi-dimensional prayer enhances church members in the areas of prayer, leadership, empowerment and morale; (2) the pastor's presence is essential for the effective implementation of multi-dimensional prayer; (3) fast-growing, multi-service churches tend to be Pentecostal and employ multi-dimensional prayer; and (4) Pentecostal/charismatic pastors tend to pray more and thereby experience greater church growth."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132275415449600,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:00:48.350Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:39:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:47:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"17dcb05e-5412-4b80-ad85-d56e35fd6d0e","accessControl_ssim":["91cd1556-20a6-4a84-8047-c5e9372f0f92"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Soul search: helping baby boomers and baby busters make the God connection through prayer and small groups"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:39:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:49:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["52575ba7-72c9-4933-9eb8-380d129db94b"],"hasLease_ssim":["b554164a-5ec9-4d3b-832f-16e3254d48ce"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Michael B Slaughter","Thomas Tumblin"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Roger S Ross"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["Baby boom generation","New Horizon United Methodist Church (Champaign, Ill)","Generation X","Prayer","Church group work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project developed an equipping tool to increase the prayer life of baby boomers and baby busters, those born between 1946 and 1981, in New Horizon United Methodist Church in Champaign, Illinois. Over a seven-week period basic principles and practices of prayer were taught through Sunday morning worship and small group experiences. A short video introduced each weekly theme in the small groups and participants were given a workbook to personalize and record their questions, prayers and growth.
