The project's thesis question is: 'Can I create an alternative model that will help pastors increase their congregational midweek prayer meetings?' The author therefore conducted an ethographical study to find recommendations to share with church leaders and pastors. She primarily concluded that it is possible to maximize the use of the midweek prayer meeting as an avenue for energizing people's prayer life and helping with their spiritual formation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720775254540288,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:11:20.063Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:52:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:25:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cc53ff28-ed3a-4044-a9b6-aac833a8f9ca","accessControl_ssim":["5d34da45-da47-4a72-82a2-d83d88729a09"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Revitalizing corporate prayer for the twenty-first century"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:52:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:00:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["bbe9cf5d-deec-42ff-9f0d-3fbcbc4ffe41"],"hasLease_ssim":["fee222d0-8329-41ba-a788-69dd3a7acca8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2008"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Prime's The power of prayer and Talbot Chambers's The noon prayer meeting of the North Dutch Church, Fulton Street, New York, this study seeks to expand the narrative to include the historical material of the time. This project includes an examination of literature seeking relevant opinions and insights into the Fulton Street prayer meetings. The foundational historical framework for the revival is presented in two elements. First, an examination is made of the historical context of the revival, including changes in the United States from 1812 to the Civil War, focusing on the economic, geographic, political, journalistic, and social elements. Second, an investigation is made of the opinions and concerns of four churchmen of noted integrity, demonstrating that most concerns revolving around the revival were pastoral in nature."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130246510018560,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:28:33.435Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:51:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:50:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8ce7ed47-e7f1-4ecb-83a4-a4b40465d509","accessControl_ssim":["bf82698b-c3a0-4ba7-8205-b4754cf5f3d7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Where two or more: the power of praying together"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:51:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:15:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a9af1b7a-2b04-48be-a81f-a4a559150db4"],"hasLease_ssim":["7441c07e-4c60-46c7-81ac-019e95ad1f6b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Garth M Rosell"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James B Banks"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Prayer meetings","Spiritual life--Christianity","Prayer--Biblical teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This work begins with the observation that churches do not pray together as they once did, and maintains that there is a correlation between a lack of united prayer and culture becoming increasingly hostile to Christianity. The author maintains that through united prayer, God offers the opportunity to achieve progress which will not occur through any other means. After examining biblical precedents for praying together in the Old and New Testaments, including the life of Jesus and the practice of the early church, this work assesses the challenge of maintaining a practical balance between prayer and action in the life of the church and individual believers. Using a number of examples and anecdotes from the history of the church, the author offers several concepts for implementing united prayer in the local church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131618143895552,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:50:21.527Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:09:28Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:22:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a3f56344-9314-4008-aa5c-f33d7238ee67","accessControl_ssim":["4fe345ed-43f9-4844-897e-08301bb3ba3d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The formation of city-wide house-to-house prayer meetings among the members of the Jamaica Seventh-Day Adventist Church with a small group approach"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:09:27Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:53:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fabda185-3d71-48b6-bee9-0e2b0cf5e841"],"hasLease_ssim":["602b0f30-ece6-403a-b4ce-a4bb0a14e428"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Efrain Agosto"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James L LaMar"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Prayer meetings","Prayer groups","Jamaica Seventh-Day Adventist Church (Jamaica, NY)","Small groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper describes the formation of city-wide house-to-house prayer meetings in Jamaica, New York among the members of the Jamaica Seventh-Day Adventist Church with a small group approach.
