The project director utilized the ministry skill enhancement model to design this project. The author researched the current understandings and models of collaboration for the purpose of developing a model of collaborative sermon preparation. Based on this research the author developed a multilevel approach to collaboration that included both face-to-face and online collaboration. The effectiveness of that model of sermon collaboration was studied by an AB study of six sermons developed by two teams. The purpose of this study was to explore how preachers use evaluation for understanding how pastoral relationships influence preaching. The study followed a qualitative research method, utilizing semi-structured interviews with six pastors, analyzed in a constant comparative method. The research explored perceptions of the pastoral relationship, evaluation, emotional intelligence, and ongoing sermon preparation. Postmodern authors have noted a significant change in Western culture, affecting world view and specifically denying the existence of an over-arching explanation of reality known as metanarrative. This study employed a qualitative research design interviewing twelve Teaching Elders of the PCA. The findings revealed a strong commitment to the Reformed value that scripture alone is sufficient as a source for the content of sermons. Following the Ministry Skill Enhancement Model, the project director researched sermon invitations, including models, biblical rationale, and objections. The project director then developed his own model of a public invitation for expository sermons, with the public invitation as a natural extension of the exposition of the text. The project director used this model to write public invitations for six sermons delivered during regular worship services to the congregation at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church where the project director serves as pastor. The project director assembled a diverse group of individuals to evaluate the public sermon invitations.
