The project director read various resources concerning expository preaching and public speaking to identify key skills necessary for expository preaching. The identified skills were evaluated by an expert in the field of expository preaching. After the preaching skills were identified, the project director developed a series of sermons on biblical stewardship incorporating research conducted on stewardship. The project director preached the series of sermons utilizing the identified expository preaching skills. The project director solicited feedback from a selected group of members of Ellaville Baptist Church via a sermon feedback form. The process of the study included interviews with denominational executives, a study of 2 Timothy 3 and 4, and two surveys of the effectiveness of the pastors in the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church. A general prescription for improving preaching effectiveness and personal prescriptions for improving preaching effectivness were given between the two surveys. The hypothesis was that a multifaceted revelational homiletic model combining gift awareness and a personal invitation would affect lay activity levels in the local church positively. A spiritual gift inventory, three sermons, and organizational invitations tested this hypothesis. Change was measured quantitatively through a pre/post test and qualitatively through the interview process.
