Worshipers participated in this contemplative approach to reading Scripture during six midweek Lenten services.  In three months, Sunday worshipers' sermon ratings increased almost one third (32%); this increase is statistically significant (p = .00). The Lectio Divina-style approach was introduced to a second congregation, but without the experiential participation. Study materials included the primary preaching text, along with exegetical and devotional reflections.  Some participants studied the material individually. Others studied it collectively (before a meeting, blogging, small group).  Sermon surveys with both quantitative and qualitative questions measured their responses. The surveys indicated that those who studied the texts ahead of time had a more positive listening experience. The first is how does a post feminist preacher bridge the divide between evangelical traditional theology and social activism? The second is how can she persevere in pastoral ministry for the long haul? As she worked through her own story she discovered that preaching was a significant means for expressing the duality of her theology. The research design involved literature reviews, evaluation and feedback from participants in the study, and survey research and evaluations of Sunday morning worship services. This project begins with a summary of the challenges faced by megachurch pastors. A chapter of biblical and historical considerations provides background material on the value of team ministry. Case studies reveal lessons learned through interviews, surveys, and onsite visits at churches that have incorporated a team-preaching model. The contextual nature of each sermon was utilized as a basis for addressing the spiritual needs of those within the emerging culture. In a series of six sermons, the project leader dealt exegetically with the Acts texts and made applications to postmodern traits. Concurrent to the project leader's preaching, a focus group met for ten weeks to explore postmodernity and to assimilate a training manual.
