The project examines preaching styles among lay ministers of the Bibleway Church of God in Christ Jesus Apostolic in Jamaica.  Questionnaires administered to lay ministers and members revealed that many pastors spend little time to prepare their sermons and exhibited a lack of exposure to homiletics. This study was a quantitative, quasi-experimental study utilizing two churches and two groups within each church, one control and one experimental. The analysis of data collected from the Personal Involvement Inventory determined the impact of visual imagery upon the sermons' ability to involve congregants. The study was a descriptive, correlational study utilizing researcher-designed questionnaires and closing interviews.  Congregational members from ten evangelical churches located in the two largest cities in Kenya, Nairobi and Mombasa, responded to a twelve-question congregational survey.  Fifty-four leaders responded to a sixteen-question pastoral and leadership survey.  Closing interviews with ten pastors added greater insight into the perception of the significance of biblical preaching to church growth. The epochal shift, from modernity to postmodernity is described in terms of epistemology, authority, and progress.  A reinterpretation of the law/gospel dialectic and a collection of homiletic tools are offered to address this shift.
