Using the case study of a local church in an identity crisis and its gay ministers, this project utilizes interviews, sermons, small group discussions, conversations with church members, and surveys to formulate a lesbian and gay homiletic. The survey was completed by 113 respondents age fourteen or older at New Hope Community Church of the Nazarene in Tempe, Arizona. This process can be called the contextualization of preaching.  This contextualization begins with two areas. The first area is about the external conditions which are derived from the immigrant context.  Based on an analysis of the Korean-American context, the Korean-American preacher should attempt the proper coordination between the context and text, and suggest the hermeneutical contact points in which the context (congregation) meets the Word of God. Through three sermons about difficult issues the author will illustrate how the sermon can have a meaning for this question. The thesis is that a sermon does make visible people who think they are invisible. Learning to adapt, to adjust, and striving to achieve and to survive, in America, they are American citizens but no 'Americans.' In Vietnam, they are Vietnamese but not Vietnam's citizens. This exilic experience of Vietnamese American Catholics needs to be addressed in preaching. The Hebrews' exilic experience is helpful for Vietnamese Americans to voice their felt loss.
