This can occur because preaching is difficult, demanding and done in isolation.  Could a preachers' peer mentoring group encourage the preacher and strengthen their preaching?  The scripture reveals pastors need to be concerned about their preaching.  The Bible affirms mutual support and offers examples of peer mentoring.  Peer mentoring is widely used in many fields today.  From secular and Christian insights, a peer-mentoring program for preachers was designed, implemented, and tested. design an interactive CD-ROM to accompany Haddon Robinson's textbook Biblical Preaching (second edition).  The enhancement of computer-based software and improvements in microcomputers and operating systems is enabling the design and development of a wide range of multimedia education compact disc (CD) products.  I will use this technology to create an interactive tool that supplements classroom lessons and the individual reading of the textbook Biblical Preaching. Because students have different perceptual strengths, information on the CD-ROM will be presented in a variety of formats.  The exercises will incorporate the use of audio and video, as well as written text to accommodate the different ways that people process information. My philosophy in regards to the interactive CD-ROM is that learners should be able to approach learning in a way that takes account of their own learning needs and learning style. This writer theorized that a preacher's homiletical skills would increase when exposed to an understanding of the various biblical genres.  The theory evolved into the development of a survey-style seminary course taught at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  The data collected from the test instruments administered during the course supported this writer's theory.  Chapter 1 of this thesis-project presented the problem and its setting. The problem was the need for a survey-style preaching course from the perspective of the biblical genres, and the setting for the thesis-project was the Leveall College of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary located in Decatur, Georgia.  Chapters 2 and 3 detailed the theological framework for this thesis-project.  The framework included an understanding of expository preaching, holistic interpretation of the Scriptures, and the incorporation of the biblical genres into the art of expository preaching.  Chapter 4 presented the literature review for this thesis project.  Sidney Greidanus's The Modern Preacher and the Ancient Text served as the skeletal foundation for this thesis-project.  Chapter 5 detailed the implementation of the project, the teaching of a new survey-style preaching course. Chapter one begins by examining the challenges that postmodern culture poses to preaching.  Chapter two defines postmodernism in three distinct but separate ways.  Chapter three uncovers the mood of postmodern culture and how postmodernism is, in many ways, an existential reaction to the downsides of modernity.  Chapter four focuses on discovering how America hears the gospel. understanding this is essential because it provides preachers with ample feedback on how listeners perceive the gospel.  Chapter five uses the metaphor of Greek mythology's Trojan Horse to anchor the concept that every culture possesses elements which function as barriers to the gospel.  Chapter six identifies elements within the culture which are user-friendly to the gospel. Chapter seven looks at oratorical and cultural factors which make messages stick to listener consciousness. Chapters eight and nine address the personal traits preachers must have to make a difference in a postmodern setting. The research examines the difference between accommodation and adaptation, analyzes the extent to which the preacher proclaims the word of God and/or persuades the congregation to respond to the word, and explores the rhetorical strategies of identification and argumentation. The project describes interviews with ten preachers to identify ways they prepare and deliver the sermon in multiple settings from the same text.
